Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know what system I need?

The best starting point is our Aqua Libre System Guide, which walks you through choosing the right solution based on your water source — city, well, lake, or other. If you'd like a personalized recommendation, contact us and we'll help you find the right fit.

What's the difference between RO and UV?

Reverse Osmosis (RO) removes dissolved contaminants like lead, chlorine, fluoride, and heavy metals by pushing water through a semi-permeable membrane. UV disinfection uses ultraviolet light to neutralize bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms — without adding chemicals. Many customers use both together for comprehensive protection. See our System Guide for a full comparison.

Do I need a plumber to install these systems?

No — all of our systems are designed for DIY installation. Each system includes step-by-step instructions, and we have detailed Installation Guides available online. If you run into any issues, our team is happy to help.

How often do I need to replace filters?

It depends on the system and your water quality. As a general rule:

  • Pre/post carbon filters: every 6–12 months
  • RO membranes: every 2–3 years
  • UV lamps: annually
  • Sediment filters: every 3–6 months (more often for well water)

Replacement cartridges and parts are available in our Cartridge Filters & Accessories section.

Do you offer support after purchase?

Absolutely. We're here to help with installation questions, troubleshooting, and filter replacement guidance. Reach us anytime via our Contact page — by email or phone.

Where do you ship?

Aqua Libre is proudly Canadian and ships across Canada. We offer free shipping on orders over $99.

See our Shipping page for delivery timelines, rates, and carrier information.

What is your return and warranty policy?

We stand behind our products. Full details on returns, exchanges, and warranty coverage are available on our Returns & Warranty page.

Can I use your systems with well water or lake water?

Yes — many of our customers are on well or lake water. These sources often require more robust treatment (e.g., sediment pre-filtration + UV + RO). Our System Guide covers well and lake water scenarios specifically, and we're happy to advise based on your water test results.

Do you carry replacement filters for my existing system?

We carry a wide range of replacement cartridges compatible with our systems. Browse our Cartridge Filters & Accessories page, or contact us if you're not sure which filter fits your unit.

Do I need a water test?

For well and lake water, a water test is highly recommended. A test can identify issues such as bacteria, iron, manganese, tannins, hardness, nitrates, and other contaminants. Your local health office typically offers bacteria tests at no charge.
If you already have a water test, send it to us and we’ll help recommend the right solution. If not, you can also send us a water sample, Contact Us to learn more
